Activating Subscribers Using a CSV File

Activating subscribers using a CSV file involves the following steps:

  1. Uploading the CSV file to the platform.
  2. Selecting the tariff to activate subscribers on.
  3. Inputting APN settings into your device
  4. Verifying the subscriber is online.

Info

Subscriber activations can also be conducted from the Inventory Page.

Please refer to the Activating Subscribers from the Inventory Page documentation for further information.

Tip

In certain cases activation requests can take between twenty-four and forty-eight hours to be processed by the network operator.

For this reason, we recommend that activations are conducted ahead of time.

1 Uploading a CSV file

Note

A CSV file can contain up to 2,500 subscribers per activation.

To activate subscribers using a CSV file:

  1. Create a CSV file containing the subscribers you want to activate.
The CSV file must be in the format Device Identifier, Nickname, Tag(s).

    Tip

It is not mandatory to add tags and nicknames when performing activations, however, they may help you to organise your subscribers.

Please refer to the FAQs for further information about nicknames and tags.

  2. Navigate to the Activate Page.
  3. Upload the CSV file to the platform. This can be achieved by either:
    • Dragging and dropping the file into the Upload a CSV panel.
    • Clicking on the Browse Files button and selecting the relevant file from your hard disk.
  4. Click on the Continue button to start configuring your subscribers for activation.

2 Selecting Tariff

You select a subscriber's tariff using the Configure your devices panel.

To select a subscriber's tariff:

  1. From the Configure your devices panel, select the tariff that you want to activate the subscriber on.
  2. If you are activating an Iridium subscriber, you can configure an endpoint to which its data will be forwarded:
    1. Click on the + button.
    2. From the drop-down menu, select the type of endpoint you want to forward data on to.
Data can either be forwarded to an email address or a TCP address.
    3. In the text box, enter the email or TCP address that you want data to be forwarded to.
Note that you can configure up to four endpoints for Iridium subscribers.
  3. Click on the Activate Devices button to complete the activation process.

3 Inputting APN Settings

Note

How you configure a device's APN settings differs depending on the device.

Consult your device's documentation to find out how to configure its APN settings.

After activating your subscribers using the platform, the next step towards getting them online is to configure your devices to connect to our network.

To achieve this, your devices need to be configured with the correct Access Point Name (APN) settings. These settings give the device the information it needs to establish a data connection on our network.

  1. While the device is turned off, insert the SIM into the device, and then turn it on.
  2. Input the APN for the network you are connecting to. This will have been provided during onboarding.
  3. If the subscriber uses a fixed-IP address, enter the following settings:
    • Username: default
    • Password: void
  4. If the subscriber uses a dynamic IP address, enter the following settings:
    • Username: streamip
    • Password: streamip

4 Verifying the Subscriber is Online

You can now verify whether the subscriber is online, using the Connectivity Management platform.

  1. Navigate to the subscriber management page for the subscriber you want to check is online.
This can be achieved by searching for the subscriber's ICCID or MSISDN using the Search Bar, for example.
  2. Refer to the subscriber's status.
  3. If the subscriber has connected successfully, the platform displays its status as Online.
